What is an appointment like?

Before the first visit
After scheduling a visit, please download the intake forms and bring them with you.

Other things to bring to your first visit:
  1. Any medical records (tests, etc) that you have that have either:
    1. Been done in the last 6 months OR
    2. That you think are important that we look at
  2. Any supplements or medications you are taking. Please bring the bottles so we can look at them. Don't worry if it's a lot, we've looked through big boxes full or bottles in the past, it's okay.
  3. Any questions you have. We're going to cover a lot of ground and it's easy to forget your questions. We want you to end our visit with your questions answered, so we recommend that you write down any questions that occur to you and bring them with you.
If you have any questions before your visit, please let us know.

First visit
Your first visit with us is typically 90 minutes long. We know this is a lot longer than most people are used to. The extra time lets us start our relationship and let's us get a good idea of what's going on for you from head to toe.

Here's how our visit usually goes:

  1. We're going to see if you're familiar with natural medicine. If not, we'll take a few moment to check in with you, let you know how things go. We'll also make sure you're feeling comfortable with us.
  2. Then we're going to talk about what's concerning you in detail, find out what else is going on, do a head to toe check-up and find out what you're eating and what medications and supplements you are taking. That usually takes about 45 minutes.
  3. Then we do a physical exam, similar to what MD's do, listening to your heart and lungs, looking in your eyes, feeling your stomach, etc. That usually takes about 10 minutes or so.
  4. Next, we talk about what testing we think is appropriate for your situation. We're happy to talk about costs, why we think you should get these tests done, what they're going to tell us, and any alternatives. We'll make our recommendations and find out what you think. This can take from 5-25 minutes.
  5. Lastly, we talk about what treatment we're going to start today. Depending on your situation we may not start any treatment until we get our test results back. Where possible we always start with lifestyle changes, then add nutrients, herbs, and other natural therapies. If we think it's necessary we will prescribe pharmaceutical drugs for you. When we create a treatment plan for you we always ask your input to make sure you understand what you're taking, why you're taking it, what it's supposed to do, what the side effects might be, and for how long you're supposed to take it. We also want you to let us know if it sounds like something you can commit to.
You'll get a treatment plan that you'll take home listing any treatments we've prescribed for you to help keep everything straight.

Follow-up visits
Your follow up visits will typically be 45 minutes long. We'll check in with each other and find out how things are going. We'll review any lab work we've done and explain it to you in detail. We'll check in on how your treatment plan is going and make any changes we feel will help you.
